Kittelson & Associates is a growing transportation planning and engineering firm. Position Overview

The work environment at KAI is that of collaboration and teamwork. The individual roles described below are not independent, but rely on one another. Staff members work together, growing one another as each project progresses.

Project Manager

The project manager is responsible for coordinating project staff, financial staff, administrative staff, and subconsultants. While in a position of authority, the project manager is but one person on the team. The project manager's responsibilities include: providing leadership, monitoring project progress, mentoring project staff, developing proposals, negotiating contract and budget, and coordinating internal and external communication.

Project Principal

The project principal provides senior oversight and serves as a resource both to the project manager and the project team. The project principal's responsibilities include: supporting staff development, providing senior guidance and oversight, serving as a secondary client contact, providing conflict resolution, and providing quality assurance and control.

Project Analyst

The analyst is often one of the younger members of the staff. Analysts are in a constant learning role. Key responsibilities include: providing technical analysis, providing written documentation, and learning about project management.

Interns

Our interns are in a learning mode and often experience a little of everything during their time with the firm. Interns are eager to learn and are willing to try new tasks. Intern responsibilities include: learning about the profession, learning about the professional work environment, contributing to projects, assisting with technical analysis, providing report documentation, and field work.

Financial Staff

The accounting staff maintains project contracts, monitors receipts, pays the bills, and generally takes care of anything that involves money. Specific accounting responsibilities include: contract support, invoicing support, and tracking accounts payable and receivable.

Graphics/Design Staff

The technical services group provides the visual elements needed to make each project a success. Responsibilities of the graphic and design staff includes: providing graphical illustrations, provide drafting, assist with presentation development, providing GIS resources, and creating marketing materials.

Administrative Staff

The administrative staff assists project and technical staff in successfully meeting project goals and deadlines. All staff members have a great deal to keep track of and it would be hard for them to find time for their project work without the help of the administrative staff. Responsibilities of the administrative staff include: project assistance, answering phones, shipping support, report production, travel arrangements, meeting coordination, marketing, proposal preparation, and office coordination.
