Jim Damkowitch
Principal Planner
Mr. Jim Damkowitch has 20 years of experience in regional transportation planning including macro/micro scale traffic and operational analyses, macro/micro transportation and air quality modeling, and ITS applications. He has served on state and regional planning committees on transportation-air quality conformity and intelligent transportation systems respectively.
Mr. Damkowitch has served as project manager for large scale infrastructure improvement projects (PSR and PA-ED Phases) including seven freeway interchanges, two state highway bypasses (SR-88 and SR-59) and several freeway mainline improvement projects (SC101 HOV Project, US-50 HOV Project, SR-99 Widening). He managed two large scale demand management projects including the Regional San Joaquin County TDM Plan and the I-580 Corridor TDM Plan for the Interregional Transportation Partnership. He has managed five AB1600 fee studies and several travel demand modeling and air quality modeling studies for a variety of clients including Caltrans, MPO’s and various cities and counties in California. Prior to joining KAI, Mr. Damkowitch accrued 15 years of MPO/RTPA multi-modal transportation planning experience for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments where he focused on both the technical and legislative requirements for congestion management, regional plan development and updates, transportation-air quality and on-road mobile source emission inventory development.
