Environmental Review & Documentation

KAI believes it is crucial to approach each project by building an understanding of client and project needs as well as the jurisdictional requirements in setting thresholds or standards for determining whether the project would significantly affect the environment. To assist our clients, KAI appropriately tailors our work to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental review requirements in an efficient and cost effective manner. This extends beyond technical analysis to documenting transportation findings in a clear and organized manner for decision-makers and the public–all as part of the environmental review process. KAI's Oakland and Sacramento offices specialize in the legal requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA). This expertise ranges from preliminary screening of potential environmental effects as part of an Initial Study (IS)/Environmental Assessment (EA), to performing a detailed assessment of traffic and transportation impacts and identifying ways to mitigate or reduce the negative effects on the environment, as documented in the transportation chapter of an Environmental Impact Report/Statement (EIR/EIS).
