Alek_pochowski-1 Alek Pochowski is a leader in the development of innovative transportation solutions addressing complex demands for a more diverse and equitable transportation network. Alek’s breadth of experience in transportation is united by a focus on novel approaches to developing multimodal solutions. He recently led the development of the WinFred MPO Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan Update, and led the transportation elements of several award-winning urban design projects in the Mid-Atlantic region. Alek is currently leading the analysis of ParkDC: Penn Quarter/Chinatown, a performance parking initiative in Washington, D.C.

Alek is a national expert on the planning, evaluation, and design of roundabouts. Alek has worked on hundreds of roundabout projects across the United States and Canada, and is the principal investigator of NCHRP Synthesis Topic 46-02: Roundabout Design, Operations, and Safety Practices. Alek is a member of the TRB Committee on Roundabouts (ANB75), and has assisted in the efforts to update several statewide roundabout guides.

Alek has a civil engineering degree from Iowa State University, and masters' degrees in civil engineering, and city and regional planning from Georgia Tech. Alek remains actively involved in several professional organizations related to transportation. He is currently the Secretary/Treasurer of the Washington, D.C. Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, and formerly served on the International Board of Directors of the Young Professionals in Transportation.
