Miao (Mia) has over five years of experience as a transportation engineer/planner. She has a wide range of knowledge gained from working on a variety of transportation projects. Mia has provided travel demand modeling support to the Florida DOT, and has also worked on long-range transportation plans, traffic and revenue studies, transit ridership studies, corridor studies, traffic impact studies, and a number of other studies around the country. Mia’s technical skills include travel demand modeling using Cube, TransCAD, STOPS and TBEST; traffic operational analysis using HCS, Synchro, VISSIM and CORSIM; geospatial analysis using ESRI GIS products; and statistical analysis using Python, SPSS and SAS, and other software. Mia has worked with trip-based four-step models, as well as activity-based models. She has also developed custom direct demand models for intercity passenger rail forecasting. Mia holds a master’s degree in transportation planning from the University of Nebraska.
