AMATS 2035 Metropolitan Transportation Plan Update

The Anchorage Metropolitan Area Transportation Solutions (AMATS) serves as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Anchorage region, and hired KAI as the consultant team leader for the preparation of the 2035 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) update. Many significant transportation issues exist in the region, including the Knik Arm Crossing project, the Highway-to-Highway project, more stringent air quality standards, local decision-making priorities for multimodal system investments, a need to gain greater system efficiency through management and operations, a potential reduction in Federal funding to the State of Alaska, and a greater federal emphasis on transit investment for urban areas. KAI provided technical analyses to help identify potential capital improvements and policy strategies to alleviate system deficiencies, assisted in the development of the short- and long-term project priorities, and developed the MTP documents.
