Atlantic Boulevard Mixmaster Intersection Design
Prior to joining Kittelson & Associates, Inc., Catalina Engineering staff performed the final design for an estimated $20 million of improvements to Atlantic Boulevard and adjacent roadways for the City of Commerce, California. The project is located in a complex urban setting and includes the reconstruction of a Union Pacific Railroad bridge and four signalized intersections. A six-leg intersection, known locally as the Mixmaster, was completely redesigned. The project will improve traffic operations by increasing capacity and simplifying intersection operations. Catalina Engineering prepared a full set of construction documents, including plans (based on MicroStation CAD), specifications, and cost estimates.
