CCTA Decennial Model Update
KAI was contracted by the Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) to update its Countywide Travel Demand Model in TransCAD. The CCTA model replicates the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) model of the 9-county San Francisco Bay Area, but with significant additional detail in Contra Costa County.
In addition to a model revalidation to 2010 counts, the Decennial Model Update involved the creation of a GIS-based master roadway and transit network, master land use database and update of model processes, based on the MTC RTP 2009 model. KAI also implemented improvements to model speed; reliability and ease of use, including the development of a count database and query system, a model interface allowing creation of model inputs, and traffic assignments for any intermediate year; GISDK scripting for the dynamic creation of transit access links, and the development and integration of a Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions and carbon calculator.
