Downtown Boise Multimodal Center

KAI was part of the URS team that prepared the original Downtown Boise Multimodal Center (Site H) Environmental Assessment (EA). Valley Regional Transit (VRT) served as the agency in charge, with the goal of the project being to construct a multimodal center in downtown Boise that would consolidate local and regional transit services, accommodate transfers between bus routes and other modes, and providing enhanced passenger amenities. KAI was responsible for analyzing the traffic impacts resulting from trips generated by the proposed multimodal center to approximately twelve downtown corridors and approximately thirty downtown intersections. The analysis also included an assessment of pedestrian, bicycle, and parking impacts adjacent to the site due to the consolidated transit operations. The project was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award for Excellence in Environmental Document Preparation by the Federal Transit Administration.
