Downtown Orlando Intelligent Transportation System
KAI served as the lead consultant during the development of the Downtown Orlando ITS Master Plan. This plan included the identification of traffic signal cabinet modifications needed for the integration of an expanded fiber network, variable message signs, traffic monitoring cameras, and vehicle detection. The plan also considered improved communication with parking garages during special events, and assessed the need to upgrade the City’s current central monitoring software for communicating with an expanded ITS system in the downtown area. The first phase of implementation has been completed and KAI has assisted City staff with the development of the design build package for this initial phase which included the upgrade of 43 signals, the migration of the central system software from Streetwise to ATMS.NOW, expansion of the fiber network and installation of variable message signs and cameras in the downtown area.
