Fairbanks Bentley Trust Roundabouts Peer Review

KAI was requested by the DOT&PF to conduct peer reviews of two roundabouts, designed by others on behalf of the City of Fairbanks. KAI worked as an extension of the DOT&PF staff to conduct the peer reviews and provide additional design support. As the plans were already at the 95% design phase when KAI was contacted, the peer review was conducted on a short time frame and at minimal cost to enable quick contracting and to not adversely delay the start of construction. KAI developed recommendations that were achievable with minor design changes, improved the safety and accessibility of the roundabout for all modes, retained the overall project objective and financial viability, and were well received by all parties.
