FHWA Livability & Sustainability in Management and Operations Primer
The purpose of this project was to identify and the role for transportation operations in the scope of advancing national livability and sustainability goals while supporting other planning objectives, such as preservation and enhancement of pedestrian environments. KAI is part of a team developing two primer documents to aid the USDOT and the broader transportation community in understanding how to take full advantage of the livability benefits of management and operations strategies.
The two primers (developed under the guidance of the FHWA Office of Operation and Office of Planning, Environment, and Realty) are intended to provide tools that both the Operations and Planning communities can utilize to advance Operations concepts, making significant impacts on Livability and Sustainability. In addition, a peer workshop on the impact of M&O on livability and sustainability was conducted as part of this task order in preparation for developing the primers.
