Leesburg Pike Corridor Study

KAI managed a team to introduce WMATA MetroExtra, a branded limited-stop service along the Leesburg Pike (Route 7) corridor between Tysons Corner and the King Street Metro Station in Northern Virginia. The team’s work identified stop locations based on land use, density and ridership potential. Short and long-term recommended improvements included greater schedule adherence and run times, bus stop access and amenity continuity, traffic management for transit priority including signal operations and bus preferential treatments. Work included designing and implementing a multilingual public involvement program including on-line interactive customer surveys, developing service plan alternatives, identifying marketing strategies for the new service, and facilitating inter-agency collaboration.
