NCHRP Project 03-82: Default Values for Capacity and Quality of Service Analyses

KAI, in collaboration with the Texas Transportation Institute and McMaster University, led national research efforts to develop default values, used to adjust saturation flow or volume when field data for these factors is not available. These values have been used in various highway capacity analysis procedures, including freeways, two-lane rural highways, multi-lane rural highways, urban streets, signalized intersections, unsignalized intersections, interchange ramp terminals, and pedestrians at signalized crosswalks. The results of this research were incorporated throughout the Highway Capacity Manual 2010.
