NCHRP Project 07-17: Pedestrian and Bicycle Facilities Along Existing Roads

KAI is currently working on a team to develop NCHRP Project 07-17, a research project that will result in a method, or series of methods, that will enable communities (state, regional and local) to identify and assess pedestrian and bicycle deficiencies along existing roads, and to set priorities for improving conditions. The research effort includes in-depth outreach to industry professionals, development of a draft methodology, testing and refining the methodology through real-world applications, and development of a final guidebook. In addition to producing a final report and written guide that explains the methodology, KAI will produce an online resource that guides practitioners through the process in a logical manner, and is flexible based on each community’s needs and capabilities.
