North Main Street Road Diet

One of the early outcomes of KAI’s work on the Ashland TSP update was the North Main Street Road Diet. KAI worked closely with City and ODOT staff to develop the concept of the road diet, which focused on improving traffic flow, reducing vehicle speeds, reducing conflicts, and creating a more attractive environment for pedestrian and bicyclists. The project also involved working with ODOT and TPAU staff to evaluate traffic operations along North Main Street with and without the road diet under existing and year 2034 traffic conditions. The project also involved the development of signing and striping plans and was implemented in October 2012.
