US36 & McCaslin Double Crossover Diamond Interchange Peer Review
KAI conducted a peer review of the preliminary design plans for the proposed Double Crossover Diamond (DCD) Interchange at the US36 and McCaslin Boulevard interchange in Louisville, Colorado. The peer review focused on meeting the basic design principles for interchanges outlined in the Policy on Geometric Design of Highway and Street (AASHTO Green Book). In particular, the review focused on whether the DCD interchange design adequately addressed driver expectations, alignment geometries, and channelization, which are common design issues at interchanges. This review excluded a detailed traffic operations review, but provided observations that apply to the overall interchange functioning.
