Location: Portland Bend Boise

Kittelson is looking for an entry level Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) Technician to join our Northwest team of technology professionals to perform production, modeling, visualization, and CAD support to our transportation engineering and design projects.

Position Summary

The ideal candidate for this position will have training in Bentley MicroStation platforms (CONNECT and/or V8i) or Autodesk (AutoCAD Map 3d and/or Civil 3D) with an interest in moving our innovative design practice forward by assisting in developing workflows and processes for project delivery.

The CAD Technician will be primarily responsible for preparing design drawings, producing plan submittals, and conducting associated tasks for roadway and multimodal projects for State DOTs, Counties, Cities, and other municipalities. The successful candidate will:

  • Have the skills to efficiently prepare project base files, prepare design drawings based on designs prepared by engineers, annotate drawings based on engineer’s input, incorporate red-line comments, and print/plot drawings for review and inclusion in design submittals.
  • Prepare plans and submittal documents to meet client CAD standards.
  • Work independently while effectively coordinating with a project team.
  • Demonstrate an openness to coaching and mentorship in this role and to take on additional responsibilities over the course of their career with the firm.
  • Work full-time, based in one of our northwest offices located in Portland, Bend, or Boise.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of full-time CAD experience using Bentley or Autodesk CAD platforms or a Computer Aided Design (CAD) Associates Degree
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Desire and willingness to work in a team-based environment that involves coordination with staff in multiple offices and/or design disciplines
  • Attention to detail, and strong organizational and time-management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge to proficiency with Bentley InRoads, Geopak, OpenRoads, or OpenRoads Designer or with Autodesk design products, including Civil 3D
  • Experience with ProjectWise Explorer
  • Experience producing construction plans adhering to agency CAD standards
  • Experience in Bluebeam PDF Software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary and benefits that include comprehensive employer-paid health insurance, a generous and flexible PTO program (in addition to parental leave), an outstanding retirement program, and a culture that seeks and values diversity and inclusion.

The range for this position is $50,000-70,000, which is a combination of your base salary plus an employer-funded 401K retirement contribution. Position in this range is determined by candidate’s experience.
