Ben earned both a bachelor’s degree in environmental systems engineering and a master’s degree in civil engineering from Stanford University. His courses covered many different facets of the built environment, but his favorite subjects were transportation related. Since graduation, he has worked in the engineering department at Metrolink, Los Angeles’s commuter rail agency, and as an engineering consultant in the San Francisco Bay Area developing designs on a wide variety of transportation projects, including roundabouts, curb ramp upgrades, highway-rail crossings, hiking trails, and wildlife undercrossings. In his career, Ben strives to combine his education, experience, and passion for transportation to improve the safety, sustainability, equity, and economic viability of our transportation networks. Outside of work, Ben enjoys spending time outdoors, either camping with friends, playing sports, or biking around San Francisco. He also enjoys spending time at home catching up with his favorite TV shows, making new vegan recipes, or trying (but failing) to pull himself away from the puzzle he’s working on.
