Emma Cayen

Transportation Analyst (she/her)

Emma Cayen

Emma’s passion for transportation began when she moved from her hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Boston for school in 2018. She was immediately struck by how differently access looked for people without a car and soon discovered a love for biking around the city. During her time at Northeastern, she was exposed to a wide range of transportation-related topics, from studying urban design abroad in the Netherlands to presenting at a conference on how transportation and social justice are connected. An avid cyclist, she is most passionate about projects involving micromobility and transit, especially as they relate to community needs and accessibility. She also has experience in roadway design and traffic operations.

Outside of work, Emma can often be found on long-distance bike rides, rock climbing, knitting, or spending time with her beloved cat, Ruggles—affectionately named after the MBTA Orange Line Station on Northeastern’s campus. She is also a board member of the Boston Cyclists Union, advocating for safer, more equitable streets in Boston.
