Jakob Wiegand, PhD
Transportation Analyst (he/him)
Jakob brings a passion for transportation safety and applied research to his work at Kittelson. He earned his PhD in transportation engineering from Penn State, where he served as a teaching assistant for a surveying course and a research assistant in the Urban Transportation Systems Group. His research focused on improving pedestrian safety through refined exposure estimation, crash risk modeling, and data-driven evaluation of equitable infrastructure investments. In 2024, Jakob was awarded the Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship from the Federal Highway Administration in recognition of his research contributions. He is an active member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). Outside the office, Jakob enjoys watching football, particularly the New York Giants and Penn State; playing various musical instruments; and spending time outdoors.
