Josh Hurst
Principal Engineer

Josh brings 22 years of experience in transportation engineering, the majority of which is in roadway design. As a project manager, Josh has prior experience in managing on-call contracts for multiple North Carolina municipalities as well as NCDOT. He understands that managing multiple on-call task orders simultaneously requires regular communication with the client and with the in-house and subconsultant staff to keep the task orders on schedule and to ensure the appropriate professional technical resources are assigned. Through on-call contracts and stand-alone projects, Josh has gained experience with early and close coordination with a variety of stakeholders, including MPOs, NCDOT, regulatory agencies, utility owners, City Council, property owners, and the public. He also has experience with a wide range of public involvement formats and ensuring that meeting materials can appropriately communicate specific objectives with the public. Josh’s passion is developing designs that foster innovation; implement the latest design practices; and improve the experience for pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, and transit passengers.
