TJ Doane

Planner

Todd (TJ) Doane is a transportation planner and urban designer with a focus on active transportation, safety countermeasures, and multimodal design. He combines expertise in GIS, 3D modeling, and visual storytelling to support community-based planning and public engagement. Prior to joining Kittelson, TJ supported the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) on statewide initiatives such as multimodal planning, safety guidance, and Complete Streets implementation. He also led bike and pedestrian planning efforts for NCDOT’s Integrated Mobility Division, working with communities across coastal, central, and western North Carolina. At Kittelson, TJ has contributed to projects including the CATS Transit System Plan, Reconnecting the West End in Charlotte, the Fayetteville Pedestrian Plan, the Clemmons and Clemson Safety Action Plans, and various bike and pedestrian planning efforts throughout the East Coast. TJ holds dual master’s degrees in Urban Planning and Urban Design from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is proficient in ESRI products, Adobe Creative Cloud, and AutoCAD. Outside of work, TJ enjoys exploring cities by bike, attending local events in Charlotte, and hiking in the Carolinas.
