Challenge

Florida continues to grow quickly and communities across the state are looking for ways to make biking feel safe and natural for everyday trips. The Florida Bicycle Association Summit brings transportation professionals, advocates, and local leaders together to share ideas and learn from one another about creating safer, more connected places to ride.

Solution

At the November 2025 summit, our team joined the conference to learn from the work happening throughout the state. We also co-produced and conducted a bike rodeo “Train the Trainer” session with Eugene Rider. Then, co-led a youth bike rodeo with the City of Winter Garden.

The training focused on planning youth bike rodeos and the community event put that training into practice. Bike rodeos give young riders opportunities to build confidence, learn safety skills, and have fun on their bikes through hands-on practice with starting, stopping, scanning, signaling, turning, and avoiding hazards. They also help families feel more comfortable traveling by bike.

The Outcome

Building Bike Confidence, One Rodeo at a Time

The summit and bike rodeo highlighted the role that partnership, safety, connectivity, education, and hands-on engagement play in building a strong biking culture.
