Location: Boston Providence

We are seeking an associate transportation engineer experienced in roadway and intersection design who has a people-first mindset, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a desire to make a positive impact on our organization and our communities.

Overview

This role is about leading others through high level execution and delivery of civil design projects while building client relationships that contribute to bringing work to the firm. Consistency, collaboration, and a keen focus on providing meaningful mentorship to others are all critical success factors.

Technical Focus

  • Extensive background in three-dimensional roadway, intersection, interchange, or multimodal design.
  • Demonstrated experience working on design elements of any of the following: roadways, intersections, roundabouts, pedestrian/bicycle facilities, shared-use paths, separated bike lanes, signing and striping plans, traffic signal design plans, and temporary traffic control plans.
  • High degree of proficiency working with AutoCAD Civil3D, AutoCAD, and/or Microstation, InRoads, Open Roads Designer.
  • Experience in preparation and development of construction documents and supporting reports, plans, quantities, and cost estimates using highway design manuals, NCHRP guidelines, AASHTO policies, MUTCD, and local design criteria.

  • Manage, lead, and successfully deliver complex civil design projects.
  • Develop sound and informed scopes, budgets, and schedules for proposals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients/teaming partners/industry professionals.
  • Make a positive impact on the financial health of projects/office, and staff growth
  • Deliver meaningful feedback and mentorship for career growth.

Qualifications

  • 10-20 years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility for state DOT (MassDOT and/or RIDOT preferred), County, MPO, City, or other municipal clients.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field required.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required in Massachusetts or Rhode Island, with the expectation to obtain reciprocity in the other state.
  • Clear passion for transportation and experience as a consultant.

The range for this position is $125,000-$165,000, which is a combination of your base salary plus an employer-funded 401K retirement contribution. Position in this range is determined by candidate’s experience and office location.
